About Open Practice Ashtanga
Open Practice Ashtanga is built around one idea:
a consistent, self-paced yoga practice in a shared space, rooted in a love for Ashtanga yoga.
Most of what we offer is open practice—time to come in, unroll your mat, and move through your own sequence at your own pace.
What to Expect: Instead of a teacher leading a class, you practice independently within a scheduled window. You can stay for as long as you need, whether that’s 10 minutes or the full time slot
Beginners are welcome. If you’re new to Ashtanga, you can start simply with a shortened sequence and build over time. On select days, teachers may offer additional guidance and Mysore-style instruction.
This approach helps you build independence, allows for deep personalization, and develops a consistent, meditative, self-paced routine.
It’s simple, quiet, and focused.
Think of it like coworking…for yoga.
What We Offer
Open Practice Mondays + Tuesdays
6:15 am - 8 am
We believe yoga should feel welcoming, no matter where you’re starting. That’s why we offer open practice in a friendly, accessible space designed to help you move with ease, breathe with intention, and smile a little more each day.
Start your practice anytime and practice for as long as you like during the session. Students are invited to do their own practice. There will be an attendant responsible for opening the space and checking students in, but no teacher will be present. Any movement style is welcome as long as it’s quiet and mostly fits on a yoga mat. Our open practice concept is rooted in love for Ashtanga yoga’s self paced system known as Mysore style.
If you are new and interested in learning the Ashtanga method, please message us @openpracticeashtanga for more details.
Sundays
7 am - 9 am
Practice will vary between open practice, Mysore Ashtanga with guidance from the wonderful Alexandra Santos, and days off.
What is Mysore Ashtanga?
Mysore is a self-paced Ashtanga practice done with the support of a teacher.
Students learn a set series pose by pose and move at the rhythm of their breath. The teacher offers individualized guidance, adjustments, and helps you build your practice over time.
New students should arrive at the beginning of the session and have a desire to develop a personal practice. If you’re new, please contact us before you first Mysore visit so we can help you get started.
